We have created a series of interactive learning modules on providing quality/affirming care to LGBT patients to be accessed on-demand. These learning modules are eligible for CME and HEI credit.
Healthy People 2020 and the Institute of Medicine have identified key health disparities faced by the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) populations. Outreach and engagement of LGBT populations as indicated in the Affordable Care Act is a critical role for health care organizations in terms of providing culturally responsive and population based care to reduce disparities.
To help health care providers and organizations learn more about providing affirming care for their LGBT patients, the HRC Foundation and National LGBT Health Education Center have partnered to create this video lecture. The session provides an overview of LGBT health disparities including HIV and AIDS, demographics, and terminology, as well as key strategies for bringing high qualitycare to LGBT people at health centers and other health care organizations. Strategies for collection of sexual orientation and gender identity data in clinical settings will be addressed. Viewers will also learn about creating LGBT-inclusive environments of care and about the intersections of LGBT health, population health and team-based care.
To receive HEI on-going training credit, you will need to register and provide your HRC Facility ID. Personal information is used for issuing a credit certificate and for storing that credit in the National LGBT Health Education website database (you can return to your account to see what credits you have already earned). You will not need to re-enter your information.
The Education Center will automatically report on those who have requested HEI credit for our training to the HRC Foundation. Click here for more information about on-going training for the Healthcare Equality Index.
